The Humboldt Institute specialises in teaching German as a foreign language. From a small beginning in its original headquarters at Ratzenried Castle the school has grown to include over 17 school locations. The main goal is to assure that all the students have full support for their language learning.
The students are always taught by native speakers who have at least a university degree. The classes consist of a maximum of 10 students, and the intensive courses consist of up to 30 lessons which are more than the average other schools are willing to offer.
The students can be sure that their experience will be great as the school has been working for over 40 years with over thousands of satisfied students from all corners of the planet. The school is incredibly efficient in preparing the students for TestDaF and Telc C1 Deutsch Hochschule examinations. We assure you that beginners of the language can pass any of these exams after only eight months of learning at the Humboldt Institut. These tests, along with TestAS, are internationally recognised and will significantly improve the students’ chances in academic or work life.
There are no hidden costs here as we clearly state all that is included. Instruction, room and full board, course materials, extracurricular activities and excursions are usually included in the price.
24-hour support is given to students in all aspects while studying here. This way, they can be confident in asking anyone of the staff if they feel worried. A family atmosphere is also provided given that the students will all be at boarding schools. This will give them to learn and experience a sense of community at full capacity. You can be sure that you will feel at home from the moment you arrive at school.
Students will be able to learn German throughout the whole year. They have 365 days at their disposal to learn the language. The study will be combined with fun to make the experience worthwhile, while at the same time, students will learn the language in the shortest amount of time possible through intensive lessons.

LOCATION

Schmallenberg is located in a place called ‘land of a thousand mountains’. It is an everyday town in Sauerland. Most people in Germany recognise this town as being a trendy tourist destination. It has only 26,000 residents and contains old timber-style houses and narrow alleyways. You will feel peace here as it is tranquil, charming, and it has beautiful historical sights.
Students will be visitors to the Bad Fredeburg Academy, which is situated in an area of Schmallenberg. The centre is only a short walking distance away from the school. The classes will be held in a school only 150m away from the academy. The academy is located around parks which give it a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. It’s also perfect for the flexible course, which includes weekly arrival and departure.

AVAILABLE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

Humboldt Institut specialises in creating fun and educational experiences outside of the classroom.
There will always be enough leisure time provided to the students, and in this way, they can choose how to enjoy their spare time. Will it be playing football with some friends or having a barbeque? This is entirely up to them.
Excursions are planned for after school and during weekends. These can be either half-day or full-day excursions, contests or games. While most of the planning and decision making for tours is made by staff, the school is always welcome with input from students about different suggestions for extracurricular activities.
